简介

Welcome

We are pleased to announce that the 11th International Conference Interfaces Against Pollution (IAP2020) will be held in Wuhan, CHINA, on June 14-17 2020, organized by the Huazhong Agricultural University, State Key Laboratory of Soil Erosion and Dryland Farming on the Loess Plateau, and Agro-environmental protection institute, Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Affairs.

Following previous successful IAP editions, IAP2020 provides a forum for academic researchers and industry participants working in the interdisciplinary field of environmental science and technology, with emphasis on the diverse roles that colloids and interfaces play in complex environmental processes and media, and in environmental sustainability (www.iapconferences.org).

The scope of IAP2020 includes topics of societal concerns as diverse as environmental protection, (bio)remediation of polluted sites, optimization of mineral resources, impacts of nanotechnology products on aquatic media and biota, fate and toxicity of pollutants in environmental aquatic and soil systems. Adequate investigation of these topics requires joint experimental and theoretical expertise from geoscientists, biologists, chemists and physical chemists, to whom this conference series offers a platform. The Scientific and Organizing Committees of IAP2020 welcome fundamental and solution-oriented research contributions representing notable steps towards the understanding and control of interfacial and colloidal processes operative in model, engineered, and natural systems. The following topics will be addressed when submitting contributed abstracts:

l Reactivity and behaviour of pollutants at (bio)colloids/water interfaces (sorption, speciation, bioavailability, toxicity, transport and transformation) addressed under equilibrium and dynamic conditions: measurements (methods) and theory.

l Physicochemical properties, fate and behavior of engineered nanoparticles, emerging contaminants (micro/nano-plastics, pharmaceutical residues) and other persistent organic pollutants in environmental systems.

l Design and preparation of eco-friendly materials for gas purification, soil remediation, and wastewater treatments.

l Roles of (micro)organisms and biofilms in the immobilization, degradation, catalysis, transport and transformation of pollutants in environment, applications in bio-remediation.

l Roles of biological and non-biological interfaces and colloids in the transport, speciation, (bio)availability and eco-toxicity of contaminants in environmental systems.

l Interfacial mineralogical processes: effects on fate, behavior, and (bio)availability of nutrients and contaminants in natural and agricultural ecosystems.

l Case studies of field work on the mechanisms of contaminant sorption and successful large-scale remediation of environmental systems (e.g., lakes, groundwaters, farmlands, etc.).

The IAP2020 conference will be located in Wuhan, an attractive city in central China. The Yangtze River and its greatest branch, the Hanshui River, flow across Wuhan and the city is surrounded by hundreds of lakes. Wuhan has a history of over 3500 years and used to be the center of the Chu Culture in ancient China. Beautiful artifacts (e. g., Marquis Yi chime bells) from this epoch can be admired in the Hubei Provincial Museum. There are also many other places of interest and scenic spots such as the famous Yellow Crane Tower, the old ‘western’ city, the old city hall and parc, modern luxury shopping malls and East Lake.

The Organizing Committee warmly welcomes you to participate in the IAP2020 conference.
